SOFT TOY FREE DESIGN

beddy dears

These little sweeties make a change from the usual teddybears you can make. As you can see they are knit in one piece. The face is made from good quality canvas which has had an iron-on backing attached. The facial features have been drawn on with heat-set ink pens. The belly button is a plain button sewn on to the knitted front before sewing up.

HINT:  Be SURE to put a small cloth square on the inside where the stuffing will go. Stitch the button on through the knitting and the cloth for added security.
The BEDDY DEAR design before sewing up.

Completed BEDDY DEARS, sewn up and stuffed with 100%
pure wool stuffing.

MORE IMAGES OF SPIRAL SCARF

IN A PREVIOUS POST I GAVE A FREE PATTERN FOR MY SPIRAL SCARF WITH A PICTURE OF IT THAT DID NOT DO IT MUCH JUSTICE SO HERE ARE SOME MORE PICS OF THE SAME PATTERN.

These have been knit with hand-spun alpaca fleeces, plied with fine sewing cotton thread. The green and pink necklace scarf was done using the hand knitting technique.

Included here below is the free pattern again, and as you can see it can be worn as a light weight shoulder wrap or a scarf. ENJOY!!!

Green & Pink wool neck warmer above was
was knitted without using knitting needles.
To see how to, do a search for "Finger Knitting"

You will need:

·      A pair of extra large size 12-14mm knitting needles

·      Approximately 300-400 metres of bulky or multi-stranded yarn
·      Usual finishing equipment for tying in loose ends and making fringe
Gauge:
Not terribly important. The scarf shown above was knitted on odd sized 12 and 14mm needles because I didn’t have two needles that were the same size. However it has stretched with continual wear so that it now measures 20cm wide by just short of 1.8 metres long. A 10cm square equals 11 stitches and 15 rows.

METHOD:
Cast on  !75 STICHES
KNIT 5 rows
NExt and EVERY row from now on .....KNIT TOGETHER the 1st two stitches & the last two stitches on the needle
CONTINUE knitting like this for EVER.. EVERY ROW from now till you have finished

On about your 10th or 12th row you are going to do SOMETHING EXTRA!!!

You are also going to knit together every 6th and 7th stitches you come across
Knit a few more rows, say 8 or 9.... AnD Then DO IT AGaiN Knit together every 6th and 7th stitches you come across.
THEN
Knit a few more rows, say 8 or 9.... AnD Then DO IT AGaiN

When you have knitted ABOUT 30-35 rows. Cast Off third of your stitches on the needle.
NEXT row, Cast off half of these stiches
LAST ROW Cast off the remaining stitches.
CONGRATULATIONS YOU HAVE FINISHED knitting your SCARF

You can add tassels around the curved edge if you LIKE
